“The Kooples”

The Pleated Skirt

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve had a wonderful summer so far!

I’ve had an extremely busy one, working in three different acupuncture clinics and planning a very special upcoming event: my wedding!!!

I had to reorganize my schedule because I work 12 hours a day during the week and plan my wedding on weekends. Unfortunately, my busy life left me less time to invest in my blog, which makes me sad, but at the same time, I’m extremely happy and grateful to have such a rewarding profession and to be so in love with my fiancé! I assure you that everything will be back to normal after my wedding and honeymoon in September.

Speaking of wedding, I had the chance to go to few ceremonies this summer, and this pleated skirt was just the perfect item! I love the way it makes waves as I walk. It’s a romantic, feminine and elegant item that is also versatile—I love to wear it with heels and a delicate blouse for a special event or dressed down whit a long sweater and my rose gold mules for a romantic dinner with my fiancé.

A Gust of Spring

Did you feel the spring wind last week end? I definitely did, as you can see in the pictures!

An oversized scarf and a wool coat are still appropriate even if the mercury is rising! But to add a spring note to your outfit, just opt for a subtle flower print…

Parka

What a dramatic landscape, don’t you think? Winter can be so harsh sometimes, but also have its treasures, like this magnificent scenery.

Sam and I did this shoot while we where exploring the shoes of the St. Lawrence river in Rivière-du-Loup, with a very good friend. We definitely couldn’t resist taking many pictures!

The cold color palette was amazing, and my parka just fit the scene perfectly! When I purchased it, I chose it for its deep grey color, which I think suits my complexion, and stunning cotton fabric, which looks like denim! Together, they make this piece unusual and original. I also love the 8 pockets! I have so many pockets that I don’t even know which one to put my stuff in! And of course, this parka is warm enough to face the Canadian winter. It is loose enough to wear a big sweater or a vest underneath without looking like the Michelin man!

It’s a wonderfully versatile winter coat. One that is warm enough for an afternoon excursion along the water or stylish enough for a walk around the city.

Black Lace

This top is amazing!

I have to say that I’m not always a big fan of lace… I think that very often, the pattern isn’t very fine and the fiber quality isn’t really the best. Lace is like any other fabric. There are different grades of quality and for someone with a good eye, this is noticeable. But in this case, I assure you that the quality is there!

With a top like this one, you can simply pair it with black pants and pumps, and with some delicate gold jewelry. You’ll look amazing!

Sweet November

November is full of lovely colors! And this year, we have been lucky to have mild temperatures, which has encouraged to go for walks instead of sipping hot beverages in a coffee shop!

Lately, I have been wearing this camisole adorned with a fine and delicate lace. It’s a very practical basic to have in one’s wardrobe because this kind of detail enhances every look. You can pair it with a high waisted skirt or jeans, or under a plunging neckline sweater or a cardigan. The effect is always tasteful!

Because it’s fall and I love to be cozy and warm, I chose this chunky knit cardigan. This season, you can find many different styles to choose from in boutiques! There is something for every taste. I opted for this one because I love its collar and its length, which are easier to style for work. Just add a pretty brooch to pin the cardigan’s collar. It instantly looks even more sophisticated!

Dress Season

I always find that time of the year when you first wear a little dress without extra layers a little strange. I wonder if the warm weather is truly here! And then, a doubt grows inside me… Am I going to be cold? Is my skirt to short? And I admit, I’m always a bit shocked to realize how white my legs are! But the moment I step outside, all my worries melt away as I enjoy the moment and this pleasant breeze that caressing my skin. The little dress season has officially started!

The Perfect Trench

I immediately fell for this trench. You know what I mean? Love at first sight… A beautiful trench is always elegant and timeless. And this one is the perfect classic with something more: details which add personality. I like the zipped pocket, the suede collar and the hatched buckle belt. I think this piece is definitely worth the investment as it can be worn  with everything! I matched it with a ruffle blouse and a python pant–a pattern that adds punch, because spring is a perfect time to be bold!

You will find these pretty pieces at The Kooples, located on Ogilvy’s basement level.

Butterflies

I couldn’t resist putting a lot of pictures in this post because I love all the details in this look. This shirt, for example, has an absolutely lovely butterfly print! The light fabric made of silk and cotton is perfect for the warmer days, and the loose-fit cut makes it very comfortable as well. The black pant is both feminine and rock with its braiding and metallic details. And finally… this gorgeous jacket. This season, we are seeing a comeback of all things 70’s! Suede and fringes are very trendy and you can find them easily in many boutiques, but this vest is quite phenomenal! If you like the “folk rock” style, it’s a must!

The Kooples

I recently discovered this brand and I was immediately won over! You can find some classic pieces, like suits and dresses, but always with at least a unique detail which adds originality. It’s the perfect place for those (male or female) who have a dress code at work and want to look different. You can also find current fashion pieces, with variated prints like floral, zebra, python, leopard and butterfly. There is something for everyone! But what I prefer is the pretty lace dresses. I selected a few of my favorites below… Have a look!

The Montreal location opened last fall on the basement level of Ogilvy’s. Be sure to drop by and let me know what you think!

Transition

It’s not spring yet, but we definitely can start to prepare for it! For example, this coat is the ideal transitional piece. Worn with a big sweater, a huge scarf, some gloves and a knitted hat, it’s absolutely perfect for the warmer days in March. It’s also superb worn as a vest and combined with a tee, a pant and a pair of pumps. I will show you that look as soon as the weather allows, I promise!
