In My Bag

In my bag, I carry a lot of things! And lately, I have had some back pain, so I thought it was time to get a backpack. I chose a smaller than usual one to force myself to carry only the stuff I need!

Last month, it was my birthday so my love gave me a Loeffler Randall bag (he knows me pretty well actually). Since then, I have used it almost every day!

So… in my bag there are:

-My keys and my phone, of course… My phone case is from Rifle Paper Co. If you don’t know this brand yet, go have a look! The artist, Anna Bond, also creates beautifully illustrated agendas, calendars, greeting cards, and even some children’s books! It’s the perfect place to find some wonderful Christmas gifts!

-My iPad… I carry it with me everyday for work. To protect it, I found this lovely case from Cantin, a Québec brand that I love. This is the kind of product that both men and women like, and I get compliments all the time! Cantin also offers a beautiful selection of bags and laptop cases.

-An umbrella… Only because at this time of the year, you never know.

-My Raen sunglasses… Once again, because at this time of the year, you never know.

-My LoveXStyleXLife book… Also a perfect gift idea! I devoured it. Well I have to say that I’m a fan of Garance Doré’s blog, and this book is really well written! That’s all I’ll say about it for now because a complete post about her book is coming…

-My wallet… I prefer to keep my wallet very practical. I like to have space for my business cards, my bills, my money, and so on. And honestly, this one from Rudsak (also a brand from Québec) does its duty!

-My business cards… Because it’s crucial to have your business cards with you at all times (note to myself)! Also, they match perfectly with all the other objects. 😉

How about you? Do you carry other things in your bag?

Sail

It was my very first experience on a sailboat and I loved it! It’s so relaxing to be propelled by the wind as you slice through the water. The view was magnificent to look at, whether it was the endless horizon or the skyline of Toronto.

That day, I was glad to be all in white because it was very warm. When the sun is hot like that and I can’t seek refuge in the shade, I prefer to wear a loose, long sleeve shirt made of light cotton and tied at the waist. This way, my shoulders are safe from sunburn while I enjoy the breeze through my shirt.

Thanks to my Capeline and sunnies, I completely enjoyed this splendid afternoon!

Culotte Pants

I really am happy to find culottes in boutiques this year. I had a pair 10 years ago and I missed them a lot.

Culottes are a very versatile piece which is ideal for summer, but are also very easy to match in fall. Add an oversized sweater and you will instantly create a relaxed yet sophisticated look. It can also be appropriate for work with a blazer or classic top, and it’s absolutely sublime with heels! But you know me, I love to wear flats (especially when walking on paved street), that’s why I decided to wear my sneakers.

Here is some advice when searching for your pair:

  • Opt for a model with a high waist: the belt should be where your waist is thinest (or a bit lower). This benefits the silhouette.
  • Look for wrinkle resistant fabrics. I also like heavier ones because they create a beautiful movement while walking.
  • Pay close attention to the cut. There are a lot of different models on the market, with different lengths, some are also more loose than others, with waist pleats, and so on. It is definitely worth it to try on a few pairs and find the one that fits you perfectly!

Hot Sun

On this day in Prague, Sam and I climbed Petrin Hill and a hundred flights of stairs, and visited a castle. All under a hot sun! For days like this, there is no question regarding my outfit: I opted for the most comfortable, light and practical option.

First, I chose my best pair of walking shoes, obviously, my white sneakers!

Then, I opted for clothes that are made from natural fibers. This t-shirt is made of a very light cotton and these shorts are 85% silk and 15% wool. Yes, It’s an unusual combination, but the wool adds significant durability to the silk!

I prefer loose clothes when it’s very warm outside. I like to feel the breeze between my skin and the fabric. It’s refreshing!

As you can imagine, I avoid wearing black! It would have been nice to have had a hat that day, as well, to cover my dark hair…

For accessories, in addition to sunglasses, I brought a bottle of water, my camera and lenses as well as a light sweater and scarf to extend my day out beyond sunset. I put everything in this backpack that is so practical because it’s foldable and easily stored. For items I used more often (phone, map, etc.), I had a small leather bag for greater conveniences.

I had a wonderful day even if it was very warm! Sam had a harder time enjoying our day because of his black jeans, dark t-shirt and his more formal shoes… 😉

Chalk and Ice Cream

It’s always charming to see children’s drawings on the pavement. It’s definitely pretty and it brightens any walk. It makes me crave ice cream (or maybe it’s just because it’s very warm outside). My love (the man behind the lens) and I treated ourselves to the best ice cream in Montreal, Kem Coba. So no, I didn’t eat both of these cones!

On weekends, I like to wear comfortable clothes, so it’s the perfect time to pull out my boyfriend jeans! This pair is damaged, but not to much, and I really love its faded blue which is the perfect tone for summer. I paired it with my reversible belt which has a golden on one side and zebra on the other. To stay in this palette, I opted for my leopard espadrilles and my bucket bag that I bring with me everywhere these days! And finally, I finished the look with an off-white tee which features a pretty neckline at the back. It even has small ties to attached the t-shirt to a bra strap in order to prevent the shoulders from slipping. So practical!

Dress Season

I always find that time of the year when you first wear a little dress without extra layers a little strange. I wonder if the warm weather is truly here! And then, a doubt grows inside me… Am I going to be cold? Is my skirt to short? And I admit, I’m always a bit shocked to realize how white my legs are! But the moment I step outside, all my worries melt away as I enjoy the moment and this pleasant breeze that caressing my skin. The little dress season has officially started!
